The much rumoured, and oft leaked LG built Nexus 5 2015 (or Nexus 5X if you believe the scuttlebut) has appeared again overnight in what is the clearest view yet.
We’ve all seen the picture of the Nexus 5 2015 which leaked previously showing the rear mounted fingerprint sensor and centre mounted camera. The phone has a slightly ‘plasticy’ look, but could be aimed at meeting a pricepoint if you believe the rumours of a US$400 price tag that have begun floating around. The picture shown today is the clearest yet and is NOT a press render of the phone according to AndroidPIT who sourced the image.
The Nexus 5 2015 will apparently be unveiled on the 29th of September at an event in San Francisco which will also show off the Huawei built Nexus as well. The LG Nexus 5 2015 will be fairly high-end to justify the price tag with a 5.2″ display with either a FullHD or 2k resolution display depending on which ‘leak’ you believe, Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and a either 16 or 32GB of internal storage and a 2700mAh non-removable battery.
Rumours on the all important camera peg the rear sensor at 12.7MP, which includes a dual-LED flash and laser auto-focus similar to the current LG G-Series flagships.
The Nexus series for 2015 will most likely have the USB-C type connector that Google has been pushing since they launched the Chromebook Pixel 2 earlier this year, and of course what new Nexus phone would launch without the latest version of Android – in this case Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
We’ll of course know more by the end of the month one way or the other, but the big question is: Which Nexus are you lusting after? Or are you going to get both?

$400 beats paying $700+ for an iPhone. And…….I feel sorry for all your posters who live outside the US. Those prices you mention in your own currency sound like bad news.
Australians have some of the highest living standards in the world despite us whinging about how much certain things cost compared to other countries.

Wish the battery was over 3000mah. I don’t trust Google when it comes to battery life. Dooze feature will do nothing for battery life if your a heavy user.
Still looks too long, cheap, and ugly with that bump. And unless it’s the angle it was taken at, aren’t the curve radii different top and bottom?
Frankly, if it doesn’t include a microSD slot, with the Marshmallow changes, they will be nuts. In itself that would sell 40% more phones. Hell, I might look at it if I could slap a 128GB microSD card in the thing.
The exchange rate is going to kill this though, even at US$400 it comes in at $578 – the price you can source a G4 or Nexus 6 for.
Despite a lot of aussies, myself included, complaining of high prices when the Aussie dollar was near parity with the US the current pricing hasn’t changed despite a large drop in the value of the AU (comparatively we are lucky at the moment, getting things cheaper than the rest of the world lol)
I doubt the new nexus will be as expensive as you predict. If indeed it is $400 US my guess is it will be more like $500 AU.
Ooo, I wish I could take that bet from you. Past experience has shown global prices being pretty good approximations of the exchange rate, with google thinking of the US first, and the rest of the world third.
Personally I’d expect the price to be AU$599 as a nice round figure that gave some room for an eventual, and expected, further fall in the AU$ value.
If they price it that high then Google knows its not worth the hassle of releasing it in Australia. They wouldn’t sell enough to justify releasing it here.
I kind of wish your prediction was right now. $659 for the 16Gb 5x which is only $379US. I wonder if Google will sell any at these prices???
$500 AUD too optimistic. Apple’s re-adjusted their in-store pricing with the dollar falling, and everyone else is hedging on the safe side. The Moto X Style is $400 USD but turned out to be a face-melting $792 AUD RRP.
How much was the original Moto G in the US versus AU? Motorola have always gouged Australians excessively. Nothing new there. Using Apple and Motorola as indicative of the rest of the market in Australia is flawed.
Let’s see the pricing on the new samsung or sony phones. They may actually be indicative of what Google does.
I like the sound of this, but really I think it’s insane to take the hard line Google do on leaving out SD cards and then only offering 16 or 32 GB of storage.
I’m with you. I don’t mind them leaving out the sd card but ffs give us a decent amount of memory to make up for it
Why would you need to use Google Drive, Google Music, Google Photos, Google Movies, etc, then? They’re trying to sell services, they don’t make squat from the hardware.
