With two weeks to go till the rumoured September 29th launch of Google’s Nexus phone lineup, which this year will apparently feature an LG built Nexus 5 2015, as well as a larger 5.7″ Huawei built Nexus 6 2015, which will reportedly boost Google’s re-entry to the burgeoning Chinese mobile market. While we’ve seen a lot of information about the LG built Nexus, the Huawei Nexus has been fairly quiet, but overnight an entry on benchmarking site Geekbench may have shed some light on what we’ll see inside the phone.
Bear in mind that these benchmark results can be attributed to just about any phone, so the reported ‘Huawei Angler’ which is being reported could be any other phone, but if real, we’ve got some insight. The phone in question has benchmarked with a single core score of 1156 and a multi-core score of 3641 with an octa-core Snapdragon 810 clocked at 1.55GHz and 3GB of RAM on board – a similar result to the similarly specced HTC One M9.
The last report is that the phone hitting Geekbench was running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) which is a gimme for a Nexus 6 2015.
There’s no other specs included in the entry, but we’ve seen previous ‘leaks’ reporting that the 5.7″ display will be a QHD (2560×1440) resolution and of course feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and have a USB-C connector on the base. Camera wise there’s no firm reports but we’re hoping that Google can finally deliver a worthwhile camera on a Nexus phone.
We’ll find out more in around two weeks hopefully when/if Google announces the phones to the public, until then keep that grain of salt handy for this one.
