At their event this morning, Google, in partnership with LG have announced the third in their line of Nexus phones and the follow-up to what is possibly one of the most popular Nexus phones to date, the Nexus 5, unveiling the Nexus 5X.
The Nexus 5X is an update to the popular Nexus 5 which came from LG a couple of years back and serves a showcase for Google’s Marshmallow version of Android, which has jumped to version 6.0.
The phone has a laundry list of great features including the great display tech we’ve come to expect from LG. Up front there is a 5.2″ FullHD IPS LCD display which features LG’s in-cell touch technology for faster touch response and crisper images. Under the hood, the LG Nexus 5X has taken a leaf out of LG’s flagship book, using the Snapdragon 808 System-on-Chip which is paired with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
The camera on the Nexus 5X will focus on excellent quality, as well as outstanding low-light capabilities, including a 12.3MP 1.55μm sensor on the rear which is assisted with Dual-flash and laser auto-focus. On the front of the Nexus 5X is a 5MP 1.4μm sensor for all your selfie needs. It’s not all just about the sensors though with the Nexus 5X also supporting 4K at 30fps, and slow-motion videos at 120fps with easy on-phone editing.
Also as expected the Nexus 5X includes a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which requires a single touch to power on and unlock the phone for immediate use.

As we saw rumoured yesterday, the Nexus 5X is going up for pre-order on the Google Store in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Japan today. Availability in other countries will come in the next couple of weeks, with Google intending to set up partnerships with local retailers and telcos in various markets.
Personally looking at these specs I am glad I did buy the Moto X Play over this. Sure this has the faster processor but I feel I got much better value. I got a bigger battery, the ability to expand up to 128GB more, and only miss out of AC WiFi (which I do not have anyway), BT4.2 (not sure what changed over 4.0 LE), finger print sensor and Android 6.0 Marshmallow (but should have that soon). The cameras are also different with this probably having many advantages but I do not mind too much on that as I would… Read more »
In Australia nexus5X price starts from AU$659 (16GB) !!!!
$280 more than the US price. I hope not!
It is $659. Check the Google store. It’s there. I also attached a screenshot above. Have a look. Yes I know it’s ridiculous and doesn’t make any sense but unfortunately that’s the price in Australia!
Yeah, all good. It wasn’t up when I checked earlier ?
