Earlier this week we posted the information that the Sony Xperia Z5 phones are coming soon, and it appears that Carphone Warehouse in the UK have jumped the gun and put the Xperia Z5 up for sale on their website already.
Announced in September at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Sony’s Xperia Z5 is on sale for £550 outright (AU$1190 on the current exchange rate alone). This certainly seems pretty steep, but in keeping with the outright price (at launch) of a number of 2015’s flagship smartphones. The specs mentioned by Carphone Warehouse are in keeping with the official specs, unsurprisingly, which include:
- 5.2-inch Full HD display
- Snapdragon 810 chipset
- 3GB RAM
- 32GB internal memory & microSD slot
- 23MP camera capable of shooting 4K & 5.1MP front facing camera
- Fingerprint sensor
- 2,900mAh battery
- Android Lollipop 5.1.1
These specifications put the Xperia Z5 squarely in the high-end, and the pricing definitely puts it there. Sony is expected to announce the Australian launch of the Xperia Z5 range (including Compact, Standard and Premium handsets) this week coming in Sydney.
For me it’s a toss-up between this and the Nexus 5X. But this pricing could make it an easy decision! Does the fingerprint scanner work as seamlessly as the Nexus 5X?
Was in a similar situation to you although it was between the Z5 and Nexus 6P. Basically the Sony superior camera help me pick it over the other plus the fact that it’s waterproof (no intention of taking it under water).
Not sure about the fingerprint scanner. Haven’t seen a lot of reviews on the phone but you would think it will work well.
