Samsung and LG have fired off the first rounds in the 2016 high-end phone stakes at Mobile World Congress, offering the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and the G5. The phones are very nice, with some features similar under the hood, but with their own unique flavour in design on the outside, as well as on the inside with their software design. The list of devices that support wireless charging is shrinking… this saddens me
They both have wireless charging.
G5 does not.
All I want is the least buggy phone with a close to stock android experience. I upgraded from a Nexus 5 to a Galaxy S6 because the Nexus was surprisingly buggy and I wanted a device that just worked. But the S6 winds me up with the ridiculously delayed android update schedule, touchwiz ui issues (reduced but still there) and regular bugs like persistent keyboard and conflicts with android wear. Neither the G5 or S7 give me confidence they’ll be much better across this criteria, and after my Nexus 5 experience I’m not even confident the 6P will work more… Read more »
nexus6p is rock solid imho, can’t compare it to a nexus5. But it’s too big for single hand use, that’s the main drawback I found.
i just accidentally destroyed my nexus6p 2 days ago- so sort of bitter sweet timing. i’m going to grab a s7. USB c-type is overrated, its big, clunky, you can’t find charger cables anywhere, and who wants to PLUG in a charger ? Just not sure about samsung’s UI though.
Touchwiz ui is actually quite nice to use.
Probably waiting for the Xperia X. Not interested in getting Samsung, and based on LGs past performance G5 probably won’t be out until June..

S7 edge is almost same in size compared to g5, even having a bigger screen.

It’s a lot easier to anonymously take cheap shots at the author for a basic mistake than it is to actually volunteer your time and effort to write publicly. Internet trolls gonna troll.
It certainly is easier. I’m not complaining. Although simply disagreeing with what someone says does not instantly qualify them as a troll. That word has pretty much lost all of it’s original definition.
Yeah it really looks like you need some sleep and lots of it, preferably before posting any other insulting comments about your readers, he only pointed a stupid mistake. don’t forget that your website wouldn’t worth much without readers. if you don’t want readers to comment on your articles than remove the discuss from your website.

The key point is the price. There’s no point minor bumps in spec if the price is ludicrous. As it is, the probably BoM price is probably pretty similar to last year, but the prices mentioned are not. Its not all due to the exchange rate, these companies are trying to push margins in the face of lower volumes.
I’m quite happy to stick with the Nexus 5 for another year, these offer little of real substance over that. However if I were in the market, I’d be more likely to pay $1000 for an LG G5.
Having cracked the screen on my Nexus 5, I’m now being slightly forced to choose a new handset. Likely to do the same as you’ve suggested: G4 over the new G5, even though I love the initial impressions of the G5.
Doesn’t the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge have 4GB of R.A.M not 3GB??
Stupidly waiting to see what HTC will do with the One M10. I’ve owned a S5 and I don’t like Samsung Touchwiz.
touchwiz since S6 onwards has been toned down a lot imo, i was skeptical at first but i dont mind it now (s6 edge) and will get the s7 edge
