huawei mwc 2016

Just a few days ago we started to see details of Huawei’s next big smartphone, the Huawei P9. Thanks to Evan Blass of Venturebeat, we’ve now seen the phone from most angles, and we even have details on the specifications we’re likely to see inside this beast.

Today, we now have some insight into when we’re likely to see the Huawei P9 officially announced. According to Blass, Huawei is planning to release the flagship P9 on April 9th. We’re not sure where Evan’s getting this information from, but his source seems pretty decent — the information matches up with last year’s Huawei P8 announcement and release schedule, so there’s every chance this is what will be coming.

For a quick refresher, here’s what’s rumoured to be inside the Huawei P9. It’s said to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display and be powered by a Kirin 950 processor along with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Much like the LG G5, which is yet to be released locally, the Huawei P9 is expected to have a dual camera set up on the back, along with a fingerprint sensor.

Android Marshmallow 6.01 is almost a certainty, and we’ve heard that the battery capacity could be as high as 3,900mAh. There are somewhat less detailed rumours of other models in the P9 line, but let’s get the flagship out of the way first, and then we can see the added models down the track.

We’ve not heard anything official from Huawei yet, nor have there been any leaked media invitations as yet (we’ve certainly not received anything yet). Once we have a better idea of what’s coming up, we will of course let you know.
