Sick of waiting around from 8am to 5pm for a courier who may or may not show up and deliver something? Harvey Norman has the answer, today they’ve announced a new partnership with shipping company Shippit, which will let you specify a three hour window in which your delivery will be made.
The deliver service will be offered for small appliances, consumer electronics, and small goods – phones, tablets, watches etc. – only at this stage. Sorry, your lounge or fridge will still have a large delivery window.
The new option for a delivery window is also only available in major cities in QLD, VIC and NSW but customers in WA and SA should have access by the end of this week. Using Shippit’s logistics to power the transactions, customers are able to schedule, and reschedule their deliveries between 7am and 10pm, with a 3-hour window eg. 1pm-4pm, 4pm-7pm or 7pm-10pm though it seems later deliveries attract a larger fee. Customers will also get access to live GPS track deliveries and more.
Shippit started out in 2015, but now powers the delivery service for hundreds of retailers across Australia. From small beginnnings, Shippit has been steadily growing from their base in Surry Hills. growing their shipping volume by 50% every month. They’ve also just signed a deal with Australia post which gave Shippit access to their postal distribution network, Harvey Norman stores and their customers will now benefit from Shippit’s smarter delivery management technology.
Bonds Couriers, one of the longest established time-critical transportation companies in Australia, are the ones who will be delivering the goods to your door, but it’s the logistical side that should prove a win for customers.

That sounds great. About time someone addressed this issue of customers having to wait around at home all day hoping the courier would turn up at a reasonable time. Like holiday accommodation and taxis, this is a market waiting to be disrupted.
Yeah, only $38 for an evening delivery …
I’m not sure being partnered with Australia Post is a good thing. I cannot remember the last time they delivered something on time for me, and their recent record for “losing” items is not very impressive either. I really hope it works but I try and avoid Australia Post now due to their increasing prices but decreasing service. Time will tell I suppose.
