With previous leaks on the topic of Moto’s next G-series phone, including what could be the Moto G5 Plus above, we’re almost certain to see Moto revealing something at MWC in a few weeks. With the details from a new FCC filing, we know just a little bit more about what that is.
Of course, FCC filings don’t give away too much, but what we know now is this unnamed Moto device (likely to be a G5) will come with a 3,000 mAh battery, with a form of quick charging on board. Most likely, this phone will continue Moto’s Turbo Charging naming, though the precise technology is yet to be revealed. What we do know, though, is that the included charger — for the US market, mind you — is capable of outputting 14.4W at 9V/1.6A, 12V/1.2A and 5V/1.6A.
This represents a nice change for the non-Plus variant, as only the Moto G4 Plus included the Turbo Charger in the box while the Moto G4 came with a standard 2.5W charger.
The other thing we can take away from the FCC filing is the inclusion of NFC, and this likely means that NFC will be standard across the Moto G5 range, including the standard, Plus, and any other variants that crop up later.
