As Duncan, Jason and I prepare to head over to Barcelona in the next day or so, and as you digest all the rumours and speculation about what’s to be announced and what it’ll be like, it’s time to acknowledge the help and support we’ve had to make our MWC 2017 trip possible.

Yes, this is not a news piece. Yes, we’re acknowledging those who’ve provided financial and other support to Ausdroid to make this trip happen. No, you don’t have to read it, but if you do, that’s okay too.

As you may know, Ausdroid discloses all its sponsorship and commercial arrangements in our Disclosure Log. This is part of our openness and transparency policy, and complements our disclosure of all advertising and sponsored posts as well.

In order to make MWC 2017 this year, we have received the following financial support:

  • The three flights for our team have been paid for with sponsorship from Alcatel, Blackberry, Motorola Australia, and Huawei.
  • Our team will be rocking mobiles powered by Vodafone Red Roaming while in Barcelona, so a big thanks to them. We’re looking forward to trying out the new 4G roaming.
  • I’ll be taking the photos we take of phones, tablets, watches and gizmos, for hands-on photos, videos and more, with a Sony RX100 Mark V camera, supplied by Sony Electronics.

Ausdroid has also tentatively accepted hospitality from LG Australia, Huawei, and OPPO while we’re on the ground, though final arrangements will be made closer to the days.

Last, but by no means least, our Ausdroid Patrons have been able to cover our accommodation cost and ground transport, as well as some other minor costs. The Ausdroid Patreon campaign is on-going and we are thankful for the monthly support from people who love what we do.

This has truly been a team effort this year, and on behalf of our entire team, I’d like to say a big and public thank you to Closer Comms on behalf of Alcatel and Blackberry, Huawei and Motorola, as well as Vodafone and Sony for making our trip financially viable. To our patrons, my heartfelt thanks as well for contributing to our free news service so that we have somewhere comfortable to stay while we’re in Barcelona.

We look forward to updating you with our regular stories, some special podcast episodes and a behind-the-scenes look at what makes MWC work.

Glad to see LG putting up some cash/hospitality they certainly get a healthy dose of articles considering their market share

Can’t wait to see the new stuff let’s hope there’s actual AU availability and pricing info to go with it

I can’t speak for admin, but I doubt market share has anything to do with articles. You release innovative products throughout the year you get articles. And just like all other manufacturer phones, the closer to release date the more they appear.
