The massively popular game streaming service Twitch has undergone a big evolution over the last 12 months or so, keeping up with the social trends within the Internet. The latest step in this growth is adding an Instagram style social feed to their capabilities.
This is the next step after introducing Twitch Chat which was an IRC style interaction during live streams, but often lay dormant for extended periods and for those on mobile apps unused entirely. Twitch themselves agree that the interaction between the streamers and their viewers is what makes their platform so successful and in their Blog post acknowledge that its not always when the stream is live that fans want to chat.
Connections between streamers and viewers are part of what makes Twitch unique. Exhibit A: Twitch Chat. A big step towards strengthening those connections was made when we released Channel Feeds, but that was only the beginning. Now we’re launching a way to make it easier for streamers and viewers to engage with each other on Twitch, whether a stream is live or not.
Its great to see that Pulse will be appearing on the mobile app too very soon so if you’re a regular watcher of certain streamers, you can engage with them more easily and readily soon.
What changes would you introduce to make Twitch easier to use?
