If you’re the owner of one of Nixon’s Mission smartwatches, you may have already been aware of this news — Android Wear 2.0 has rolled out to Nixon’s watch over the last few days, and if you haven’t got it yet, you very soon will. Our device which we reviewed last year received the update on Friday morning, and we’re told by Nixon’s Australian folks that the update should now be available to pretty much everyone.
The update is being distributed as an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade, and once you get the notification, you’re encouraged to make sure your phone is on charge, and that your Nixon is charging via its supplied cradle. The last thing you want is to lose power in the middle of an upgrade. If you haven’t received the upgrade notification, you can always trigger a manual search for the package from the Settings app, just make sure you have at least 50 percent of battery left before trying to install the new Android Wear build on your smartwatch.
With the jump to Android Wear 2.0, Nixon users will see new features meant to improve usefulness, in addition to getting a number of performance improvements. In the last few days, I’ve found the Nixon Mission more responsive, and everything else works as it should, just a bit faster. You also get the benefit of stand-alone operation, so you can install fully fledged Telegram, Messaging, Uber and more on your smartwatch, to use totally phone-free (though really, we don’t see many people doing this…).

Got the upgrade last week. Swiping seems easier now, as it used to not always work due to the raised outer ring on the Mission.
Only thing I’m missing is the notifications. I used to be able to see that I had notifications, now I can’t. I thought I was supposed to get notification bubbles over the watch face, but they aren’t showing. Are they working for anyone else?
Yes from time to time I’m noticing this too. Haven’t yet figured out why.
