Google’s Android keyboard, Gboard, has been updated with support for a bunch of new languages as well as some new tools for text editing and allowing you to resize and reposition the keyboard.
There are 22 Indic languages that have been added to Gboard, Indic languages are ‘the dominant language family of the Indian subcontinent’, as well as Kinyarwanda from Rwanda and Waray, a regional language from the Philippines. In total this means Gboard now supports ore than 185 language varieties.
In terms of tools, Gboard now supports new text editing tools, with new buttons for easy cursor control which also allow for selecting text, as well as cut, copy and paste all from the keyboard. To get these new tools, touch the ‘Text Editing’ icon from the Quick Features menu (tap the G button or the arrow in the suggestion strip).
The last feature added is the ability to change the size and position of Gboard, In the same Quick Features menu, tap the ‘More’ (three dots) button and tap the one-handed mode option, you can then adjust the size and position of the keyboard.
