The HTC U 11 announcement is drawing closer with just a few weeks left until the May 16th unveiling. HTC is now teasing their launch with a new video showing off various squeezes, which relate to the also rumoured new user interface.

The phone is rumoured to be the pinnacle of the HTC U series, which began with the launch of the U Ultra and U Play last month. The squeeze function is said to be enabled thanks to a touch sensitive frame around the phone which can sense long and short presses, squeezes, which can be tied to launching an app, or performing other functions. The video is short, and there’s a glimpse of what is likely the phone in there too:

The specs for the phone, if the rumours are correct, are sounding fantastic. A 5.5″ QHD display, powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor and either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. 64GB and 128GB storage options are also on the cards, with a 12MP Sony Exmor camera sensor on the rear and a 16MP sensor on the front. A 3,000mAh battery will be getting the phone through the day, if all goes to plan.

We’ll know a lot more about the HTC U 11 when it’s unveiled on May 16th, with the announcement set for 4pm AEST – stay tuned.

That tiny peek looks enticing, but not sure about the squeezing; I guess it would be good for launching the camera or something…?
