While Android Home never eventuated, Google is slowly taking over home automation with Assistant, slowly integrating more and more services and today there’s even more with iHome, Leviton, Emberlight, and Artik Cloud joining the family.

These aren’t the most widely available devices, but they do cover a range of options including smart light bulbs, switches and outlets and it looks like Artik Cloud is an Internet of Things platform owned by Samsung. There’s information on how to use these new devices on the Lights, as well as plugs and switches Google Support pages.

These new devices and platforms aren’t terribly exciting for us here in Australia, but they do show that Google is really moving forward with integrating new services into the Assistant fold. Of course this is great for Google Assistant, but also means that you can use these devices with voice commands on Google Home…if you’ve imported one (hurry up already Google Australia!).

If you’ve managed to get your hand on any of these smart home devices you can add them into your work flow in the Google Home app.

Would be nice if Google could even roll out Assistant correctly. Still not on my Nexus 5X.
