When Motorola first re-launched, they did it with a single handset: the Moto X. They soon added the Moto G, Moto E and then last year the Moto Z. The Moto C will be joining the line-up this year and here’s our a first look at what to expect.

The leak of the line-up appears to be from the same meeting as the leaked Moto X4 video from the other day. It shows the five handset lines, their place in the Motorola stable and some info on what each will have. The source is the impeccably informed Mr Evan Blass (@evleaks), so the quality of the leak is pretty good:

The Moto Z is now undeniably the ‘flagship’ line of the Motorola stable, with the Moto X relegated to 2nd Place. The Moto G, which Motorola has continually found to be one of their best selling handset lines is at the top of the mid-range, and the Moto E and Moto C are bringing up the budget angle.

The new Moto G will be an ‘S’ according to the slide, but what this means for the Moto G5/Moto G5+ isn’t clear. What is clear is that Motorola has a solid line-up planned for 2017, and with the leaked specs coming out thick and fast, we can’t wait for official announcements from one of the most respected and sought-after brands.

Is it really smart to keep trying to move the brand you have that’s known as budget upmarket? The Moto G was always the budget phone for granny – but now they have TWO cheapo models below it. People will avoid the E and C because they are ‘below budget’, but when granny goes to get a new phone she finds the Moto G has priced itself out of contention.

The Moto G needs to be $200, not 50+% more expensive.
