A couple of weeks ago we reported on a Nokia TA-1004 that has appeared on AnTuTu benchmarks with Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM in tow. Now there are reports that HMD has cancelled this 4GB version in favour of a 6GB and an 8GB version.

An FCC filing by HMD shows them stating that the test results for the TA-1004 are also representative and applicable for the new model number TA-1012. This fits with previous rumours that suggested that HMD had killed off the 4GB version. We have seen evidence of a 6GB and an 8GB version on Geekbench suggesting that they have foregone the 4GB version and instead going with 6GB and 8GB RAM variants.

The upcoming Nokia flagship, the Nokia 9, is rumoured and expected to have not just a Snapdragon 835 but as suggested above, a 6GB and 8GB RAM variant along with 64GB of internal storage. I suspect the 64GB of storage will arrive with the 6GB RAM SKU but the 8GB RAM SKU will most likely have 128GB of onboard storage as most flagships do this year.

There are reports of both 5.3 and 5.7in 2K displays being ordered by HMD. Maybe the lower RAM version will have the smaller display with the larger display receiving the higher end specs. The rear camera is also expected to be a dual 13MP sensor setup, although what style of rear camera setup is not known (ie. telephoto, widescreen or monochromatic lens as the second lens).

Many of us are waiting, not-so-patiently, for Nokia to release the Nokia 9 to the world with a hope that it will arrive on our shores. How many here will trust a Nokia flagship up against all the other flagships either out already or coming soon? How do you think it will go?

I’m keenly interested in the 128gb version. I’m hoping it will be better than the lg g6 which i am holding off buying until the Nokia 9 is released.
The pixel is a great phone but i can’t justify the price in Australia. It lacks too many features.

I’m definitely not buying a new phone with less than 6GB RAM.
