The official Twitter app was very lacking in features in the early days of Android but in the past couple of years they have really upped their game. Through the use of a beta channel they are testing and then rolling out new features all the time to the stable channel. Today we saw them roll out automatic night mode to their official stable app on the Play Store.

I have used an automatic night mode in several apps including Nova Launcher for a while and love it. For an app to change its theme to something suited to your current environment makes for a great experience. Not only that there are people who prefer a dark theme and some who prefer a light theme. Now in the official Twitter app you can have either, or both.

Night mode has been in the Twitter app for nearly 12 months now and after testing the automatic night mode on their beta app they have now rolled it into their stable app as well. When you turn the night mode on the app asks you if you want to “set night mode to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise”. This can be changed inside the apps settings where there is the option to set the night mode to “Off”, “On”, and “Automatic at sunset”.

I downloaded the Twitter app this evening and found it was present inside there so expect it to be present in your app once you have updated it from the Play Store. If you don’t use the official Twitter app maybe now is the time to check it out and see if it suits your needs.
