After announcing the Oppo R11 last month, Oppo has today announced that the latest addition to the R series will go on-sale in Australia from the 7th of August.
The Oppo R11 is a photography focused handset with a 20MP+16MP rear dual camera and 20MP front-facing camera. The main 16MP sensor on the rear camera is a Sony IMX398 sensor fitted behind an f/1.7 aperture lens to allow for fast, crisp photos with vivid colours and better photography capabilities even in low-light conditions. The front-facing 20MP camera will work well with the software featuring bokeh effect 2.0, automatic HDR and intelligent skin tone beautification technology.
Michael Tran, Executive Director at OPPO said
Today, the smartphone is our camera of choice and of utmost importance for Aussie consumers. We want to share our favourite places, people and activities at a moment’s notice in stunning detail. The R11 has been designed with this in mind, receiving significant upgrades to both its hardware and software.
The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, with 4GB of RAM alongside 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded with a microSD card up to 256GB. The display is a 5.5″ 1080p LCD display covered with Gorilla Glass 5 powered by a 3000mAh battery. The included specs, are good value for money, with Mr Tran saying
At OPPO, we want to continue to lead and bring premium quality features to our camera phones. The new Portrait Mode does just that, offering users beautiful shots at a click of a button. Only OPPO can deliver these flagship innovations at such an attractive price.

The antenna basically gives you better, faster and smoother internet connectivity whether you’re on LTE or Wifi.
The Oppo R11 is running Color OS 3.1 powered by Android Nougat (Android 7.1.1).
The Oppo R11 will be available for $649 from August 7th in Gold and Black from JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and Officeworks, with JB Hi-Fi opening pre-orders for the phone from July 31st. Serious question, why would you buy this instead of a OnePlus 5 other than local retail availability?
warranty (ever had to deal with OnePlus warranty?), ability to call 000, but yes you have a point, the software experience on the OP5 promises to be better– we will have an R11 on the Ausdroid review bench shortly so stay tuned for the review.
