We’ve been lusting after the connected, NFC enabled Android Wear running Huawei Watch 2 since it launched at Mobile World Congress, now we’re hearing rumours that it will launch this month.
According to reports we’ve received, Huawei will be launching the Huawei Watch 2 (not the non-LTE classic) on the August 9th with Vodafone. Details surrounding the launch, such as colour options, pricing, plans etc. we’re still looking into.
The Huawei Watch 2 supports connectivity, so partnering with Vodafone would be a smart idea for the launch, allowing users to take full advantage of the watches capabilities – including NFC for Android Pay.
The Huawei Watch 2 is a “sporty” watch with a 1.2″ fully circular display, it runs on an Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and is powered by a 420mAh battery. The Watch 2 has full LTE capabilities (SIM card slot) and will give you two days of battery life according to Huawei. The watch also includes built-in GPS and is IP68 water and dust resistant.

We’re looking into this more, and understandably Vodafone and Huawei aren’t commenting at this stage. So, if you’ve heard any more about this launch, let us know.
Will this work for those that have android pay setup on their phone, with an account that works but a phone that doesn’t support nfc? So the watch takes care of the actual nfc requirement and it’s not relying on the phone itself having nfc? I’ve read that you have to setup android pay on the watch even if it’s already setup on your phone, but all the examples have been where people already have nfc on their phone.
I have a Moto G4 Plus and it just irks me that the G4 Play had nfc, but the Plus didn’t..
