After halting the update to Android 7.1.1 and then downgrading owners of the Nexus 6 to Android 7.0 in March, Google has surprised us all and begun pushing an Android 7.1.1 update to the Nexus 6.

At least one Ausdroid reader, Allan, has advised us that his Nexus 6 has received a notification to update the device from Android 7.0 to 7.1.1; and he’s not alone with users on the /r/Nexus 6 subreddit advising they too are receiving the update. The update is 367.9MB in size, and according to Google ‘fixes critical bugs and improves the performance and stability of your Nexus 6’.

The new update for the Nexus 6 appears to include the latest August security update, as well as improvements to the camera UI as well. Allan also reports that he has now got an option to access 24×7 support on the Nexus 6 in the settings menu which has not been present previously.

If you’ve not seen an update on your Nexus 6, head to Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates and see if you have a prompt.

Thanks: Allan.

I got mine last week also, all nice and slick, no problems to report. Real quick performance, I even think the battery life is improved. Good update.

A friend of mine got the update yesterday. I’m surprised Telstra pushed it to him so soon 😉

I got mine updated last Saturday. Finally the camera doesn’t lag when changing from portrait to landscape, but damn it stutters at the right moment. Everything is just as slow as it was previously. Waiting very impatiently for the Pixel XL2.

Got it first thing this morning. It was 27.8 MB but I have been side loading so was a surprise this morning to get it, I thought I had to go back to 7.0 to get them at all ever.
