Huawei recently released their Huawei Watch 2 into Australia and from all accounts those who have used it loved it. Today they have announced a partnership between themselves and Australian software company, mCareWatch, that will bring a healthcare solution to Huawei Watch 2 users.
mCareWatch is a software company based in Sydney that specialises in healthcare solutions with an aim to use the latest technology to provide solutions for “caring, well-being, and independent living”. Using the inbuilt sensors in the Huawei Watch 2 they are able to use the provided information to support safety, health and fitness scenarios.
The 4G connectivity of the Huawei Watch 2 also adds the ability for accurate GPS tracking, geofencing, one-touch SOS alerts, medication reminders, preset call shortcuts with pictures of the contacts and non-movement alerts. The Bluetooth in the Huawei Watch 2 also allows the app to connect to peripheral blood pressure and weight measuring Bluetooth devices.
The water resistant nature of the Huawei Watch 2 allows monitoring to also continue when the person/patient is in the shower. Obviously the heart rate measuring on the Huawei Watch 2 can also be used to track the person’s heart rate during an SOS event and can also be shared with paramedics as required.

It is great to see companies looking to make use of all of these sensors we have in our devices these days. The mCareWatch caring and wellbeing platform sounds like a godsend for those at risk. It is a big step up from the plain grey buttons many elderly wear around their necks for SOS alerts.
