The end of 2017 is shaping up to be a busy time for Huawei. Instead of releasing just one new flagship they are planning on releasing three of them, with at least two almost certainly landing down under. The next flagship, the Mate 10, is going to be announced on October 16 in Berlin and is expected to share the stage with both Pro and Lite versions.
We have seen renders based on case measurements leak in recent times but since then we have seen a lot of Pro display leaks but little else for the Mate 10, until now. Overnight the Mate 10 leaked in the form of a CAD renders. The renders do not give much new information but do go a long way to confirm the 16:9 display aspect ratio, a front-mounted fingerprint sensor, and the expected rear dual camera (most likely Leica branded).
This render matches up with the renders we saw recently with the small front-mounted fingerprint sensor and display ratio. This is different to previous years where the Mate 10 Pro had the front-mounted fingerprint sensor and the standard Mate 10 the rear sensor. As with all rumours, take it with the usual smattering of salt, although this leaker has been very accurate in recent times.
While we are seeing quite a few images and leaks surrounding the Mate 10 devices there are still a lot of don’t “know”. We do not know where exactly the Mate 10 Pro has it’s fingerprint sensor — we have seen countless front displays of it but not a single back cover — could the fingerprint sensor be under the glass? What will be a spec differences between all three variants? Will the Lite version still have the 18:9 display ratio but only have a HD resolution? Will the regular Mate 10 maintain a 2K display but the more traditional 16:9 display ratio?
One thing we do KNOW is that all three will house the new Kirin 970 with it’s own built-in AI hardware. We can’t wait to see what Huawei do with this new chipset and hope that we don’t just see the top two variants here, but all three. How about you?
