The start of the month is when Google usually release their security patches and updates for their relevant devices. This month is no exception with today Google releasing the full factory images and OTAs for October.
This month we see the security update arrive for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X and the Pixel C. There is no update for the Nexus Player just yet but considering it received the September update rather late that is not a surprise. The update brings a few fixes but the most critical one is:
a critical severity vulnerability in media framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process
In this months security bulletin, Google has outlined updates to the Framework, Media Framework, System, and kernel components for Android.
Google has further patched vulnerabilities from Mediatek and Qualcomm. For further information we encourage you to head on over to the Android Security Bulletin and have give it a peruse.
If you would like to manually flash either the OTA or the factory image head over to the respective webpages and download and flash to your hearts content. Otherwise hit the check for updates button in your settings and you will then be prompted to download and install.
I received the October update for my Nexus 6 this morning. Good to see that Google are continuing to maintain the updates for this unit; so far, at least!
Ha and fixed it.
fixed what? 0:-)
LOL you recycled the headline without updating the month.
