For a little while now, if you were looking for a BlackBerry KEYone in Australia you’d be out of luck. TCL’s first BlackBerry-branded handset sold out and is no longer available. And they couldn’t be happier about it, with an upgraded and way sexier model – the Black Edition – launching this week in Australia.
It’s identical to its metallic silver forebear except for the colour swap (its now black, obviously), an extra GB RAM (now 4GB) and double the internal storage (now 64GB – still with MicroSD expansion too). It also ships with Android 7.1, but an update to Android 8.0 Oreo has been promised.
If you haven’t checked out the original BlackBerry KEYone see the product announcement from Mobile World Congress earlier this year, and be sure to read Duncan’s review of the handset.
The new Black Edition is available now from JB Hi-Fi at $899 – the same price as the older model.

I said it three months ago, I’ll say it now, I love the look of this phone and if my work wasn’t locked into iPhones I’d have one for day to day use in a heartbeat. For personal use, I think the loss of screen real estate due to the physical keyboard would annoy me for games and videos.
