After pre-orders went live earlier this year, Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the stylish swim-ready Gear Sport smartwatch and second-generation Gear IconX earbuds are now available in Australia.

The Samsung Gear Sport and Gear IconX are now available from Samsung retail stores, as well as the Samsung Online Store, and selected retailers. The Gear Sport is priced at $499, while the ergonomic Gear IconX is priced at $299.

Gear Sport

The Gear Sport is a the latest addition to Samsung’s fitness tracker lineup, featuring a traditional round face with a rotating bezel that makes for ease of use and control. The Gear Sport includes a brightly lit, 1.2″ fully circular Super AMOLED display covered in Gorilla Glass 3.

The sporty device is available in Black and Blue colour options and supports interchangeable 20mm bands to allow you to personalise the watch to your liking.

The Gear Sport is designed for fitness with a built-in heart-rate monitor as well as water resistance up to 5 atmospheres. A GPS (including GLONASS support) will track your runs, bike rides or any outdoor activity without your phone and if you want a coffee while you’re out and about you can use the built-in Samsung Pay NFC support to pay.

While it runs Tizen, it also comes with a range of apps including the Speedo On app which was designed in collaboration with Samsung to help Aussies track their swimming progress including tracking strokes and lap times.

Gear IconX

The Gear IconX is the second generation of truly wireless earphones designed to provide you with a standalone media player that can play music without a phone while sitting snugly in your ears. The IconX features on-device music control with tap and swipe functions built-in to the earbuds.

The second generation devices offer a more ergonomic, lightweight design and improved battery life from the original with a choice of three colours: Pink, Grey and Black.

Perfect for exercising, the IconX has an Auto Tracking mode which can detect when you start walking or jogging, then log your time, distance, and calories burned – you don’t exercise if it’s not recorded right? ;).

The new range of Samsung Gear wearables is heading to stores and online now. We’ll be checking out both the Gear IconX and Gear Sport to see what they’re like, but if you want to jump in you can head to the Samsung website to check them out.
