As speculated, OnePlus has confirmed that they will unveil the new OnePlus 5T handset at an event in New York, with the date now set for November 16th.
The event will be open to the public, with OnePlus selling tickets to the event for $40USD, which will include a OnePlus backpack filled with goodies worth $65USD. The fee won’t be going to OnePlus however, with OnePlus announcing that the proceeds will be donated to charity. The event will also be live-streamed through the OnePlus website.
The event will kick off at 11am, but the phone won’t go on-sale until November 21st in North America and Europe at 9am. The phone will also go on-sale in India, but not until November 28th, as well as in China on December 1st. No mention of Australia has been made at this stage.
In terms of specs, we expect a phone which utilises almost the full front of the device in an 18:9 aspect ratio with rumours pointing to a 6″ sized display. Underneath a Snapdragon 835 processor, and both 6GB and 8GB RAM options. a dual-camera system is also expected as well as a headphone jack.
The excitement for the OnePlus 5T is building but the all important question for us, is whether the phone will be arriving in Australia. OnePlus completed, what appeared on the surface to be, a successful soft launch here in Australia last month, whether the sales numbers seen warrants a full launch here is something we’ll have to wait and see.
If they launch here by early December under 750 for the 128GB variant, they will have my money.
Who normally sells Australian (versions with AU warranty, is there such a thing?)?
