Belkin has announced a new range of compact portable USB batteries, labelled Pocket Power. Taking over from the company’s current MIXIT series, the new batteries feature a lighter plastic body and simpler construction. There’s a power button on the side, and four LED indicators to show battery charge.

The Pocket Power batteries are available from today in 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh denominations. If those aren’t big enough for you, Belkin is also promising a 15,000 mAh battery in the new year.

The battery is a little larger and flatter than the older models, which helps to spread the weight and make the battery a little easier to handle.

You won’t find USB-C here though, with more traditional USB-A ports for charging devices and a Micro USB port for charging the battery itself. The battery can support 5V 2.4A output and charges at 5V 2.0A input. The total weight is 222g (for the 10,000 mAh model).

The battery packs also include sensors to monitor heat and voltage to make sure nothing overheats or harms your device. Belkin backs that up with a Connected Equipment warranty: If your device is damaged by an electrical charge while properly connected to the charger, the company will repair or replace it, up to a value of $2,500. Of course, some conditions apply to this so you should check the details before you jump in feet-first.

The Belkin Pocket Power range is available now at JB Hi Fi, Harvey Norman, Myer and Big W and you can also buy online direct from Belkin. The 5,000 mAh model costs $39.95 while the 10,000 mAh model is $59.95.

I’ve switched over to USB-C for everything.

I stopped buying anything without USB-C.

For power bank, I got Xiaomi ZMI 20000mAh.
I got it for $55 via OzBargain.
It can charge my Pixel 2 XL 2017, as well as my Macbook Pro 2017.
I have no problems getting the ZMI through domestic/international airport security.
