Ring have mode a name for themselves, firstly with their doorbells and more recently with their security cameras. Over at CES 2018 in Las Vegas Ring have today revealed several new security devices to bolster their “Ring of Security” for homes and neighbourhoods.
All of the Ring products continue to integrate with on another as well as the Ring app, promising a simple, easy to use security solution.

Stick Up Cam Elite
The Stick Up Cam Elite is a security camera that can be used both inside and outside with all the usual Ring features. It includes two-way audio, advanced motion sensors with zone protection, 1080P video recording and is powered by either Power Over Ethernet (POE) or a standard wall outlet/socket. It relays its recordings via either WiFi or POE — this is Ring’s first POE camera and promises to be every bit as good as their current camera offerings.
Stick Up Cam
The Stick Up Cam is the same as the Elite with the only differences being it is battery-powered, has Passive infra-red sensors and can only communicate with the app/hub using WiFi.
Ring Beams
Ring are looking to expand their lighting solutions with the recent acquisition of Mr Beams, an LED lighting technology company. Now Ring has smart lights that integrate with the Ring app and all of the Ring security cameras and doorbells.
The lights now offered include:
- Patented smart, outdoor security lights
- Pathway lights
- Step lights
- Spotlights
Ring Alarm
The Ring Alarm (formerly known as Ring Protect) we first heard about back in October but they have been mired in a legal battle surrounding it and as such are yet to release it to the public.
The Ring Alarm bundle consists of a keypad, base station, open/close contact sensors for doors and windows, a passive IR sensor and a wireless range extender (based on Z-Wave). More sensors can be added to the security alarm as required and will integrate seamlessly with the existing components.
Ring Alarm will begin shipping in late 2018, priced at a very attractive $289AUD.
Ring Professional Monitoring Plans
In a bid to cover all aspects of a security suite Ring will begin offering professional monitoring of their alarm system. The monitoring is 24/7 and includes Cloud video storage for an unlimited amount of Ring devices at any location, free Ring mobile app usage and 10 percent off all future Ring.com device purchases. At this stage the pricing is unclear but considering their affordable storage plans I suspect it will be very competitive.
Ring are at the top of the tree for video doorbells and are looking to do the same with their security suite, now offering a solution for all possible security devices with seamless integration between them all.
