The Negear Arlo Pro security camera is considered one of the best wireless cameras on the market. Today Netgear have announced that the next version of the Arlo Pro, the Arlo Pro 2, is now available here in Australia.
The Netgear Arlo Pro 2 comes packs with features, options and accessories demonstrating why it is considered the best on the market in that space.
The Arlo Pro 2 improves on the previous Arlo Pro with the addition of 1080P HD video, an option for a plug in solar panel along with support for Amazon Alexa to control viewing of live and recorded feeds.
The Arlo Pro 2 is ideal for indoors or outdoors and includes a IP-65 certification to withstand rain, sun, heat or cold. It is truly wireless with a rechargeable battery (which can be kept charged with a solar panel).
Indoors, while plugged into a power socket, provides faster motion detection and faster beginning of recording. It also offers a “Look Back” recording feature where if motion is detected it creates the video from three seconds before the motion was recorded.
With the Look Back recording, a 130-degree field of view, night vision along with the advanced motion detection technology the Arlo Pro 2 promises to be a great solution to your home security requirements. The base station also includes an alarm which can be activated remotely via the Arlo app, by motion detection or by audio detection.
Of course there are online storage options possible. Included with the purchase of each camera system is a basic Arlo plan which includes online storage for a rolling seven days for up to five cameras for the life of the product. Of course there are options for greater storage and camera numbers if that is something you require.
Not only can the Arlo Pro 2 be controlled with Amazon Alexa but also through IFTTT (which should enable Google Assistant support).
Thankfully, if you already own an Arlo Pro there is no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water with the Arlo Pro 2, Arlo Pro and Arlo wire-free cameras being interchangeable. Arlo Pro 2 cameras can be added to already-installed Arlo Pro or Arlo Wire-Free base station.
The Arlo Pro 2 Add-on Camera is now available for RRP$349. The Arlo Pro 2 Security Camera System with two cameras and including base station is available now starting at an RRP$799. Accessories are sold seperately with the charging station selling for RRP$99, the rechargeable battery similar at $98, skins to hide the cameras for RRP$39, and the solar panel for RRP$149.
If you are looking for a security camera solution for your property this could well be the option for you. If you are interested, head on over to the Netgear Arlo website and check it out for yourself. We hope to have review units on deck soon so stay tuned for our thoughts on what promises to be an improvement to what is already the best wireless security camera commercially available.
Scott, have you actually tried the smart features yourself? The advertising material sounded great, so I thought I’d give it a go. Turns out, in Australia at least, the only thing you get is the pictures that comes up in notifications. The notifications now come late, recordings stopped working if the camera is not connected to power, and the object identification doesn’t work at all. The recording issue instantly went away when I unsubscribed from the smart service. This issue is well discussed on their support forum, and appears to be Australians that are having this issue. For background, I… Read more »
What is the best way to run one of these on a fixed monitor inside? Trying to work out the best and cheapest way to keep an eye on a driveway.
For me I just run it in a web browser in live mode. Not perfect but it gets the job done. I use it to keep an eye on the dogs in the backyard.
Hope the camera speaker is better than the first one
