It’s been almost a year since Google announced that standalone Daydream headsets would be coming to market. Lenovo is the sole remaining hardware partner to actually release one and now it’s been officially priced and given a release date alongside the Mirage Camera.
Found by UberGizmo at B&H Photo Video, both the Mirage Solo – the standalone Daydream View headset – and the Mirage Camera are available now for pre-order. The Mirage Solo is priced at $399.99, While the Mirage Camera is slightly cheaper at $299.99 with both units due to be shipped on May 11th.
The Mirage Solo headset offers a lot of hardware for the money, with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage (with microSD card support up to 256GB) and 4,000mAh battery that Lenovo says gives it about 7 hours of life. The headset has a 5.5 inch 2560 x 1440 resolution LCD display with a 75Hz refresh rate offering a 100 degree field of view.
The Mirage Camera lets users shoot immersive 3D video and photos in up to 4K resolution thanks to dual fish-eye lenses in front of 13MP sensors. There’s 16GB of storage built-in, allowing you to store the photos and video, or you can upload it to Google Photos or even stream it live to YouTube. The camera also has a removable battery pack will give you about 2 hours of battery life and you charge it through USB-C.
We went hands-on with the Mirage Solo and Mirage Camera at MWC earlier this month and it was a singularly great experience. There’s no dates on Australian availability but we’re hoping it won’t be too long before we hear something.
