During the Google I/O Keynote, one of the more exciting user focused features announced was in Google Lens when Aparna Chennapragada, VP of Product, Augmented & Virtual Reality showed off the new Google Lens feature: Smart Text Selection, the ability of Lens to recognise text in the real world and let you copy, paste, translate and basically interact with the text virtually. We loved the feature so much we took the opportunity to see it in action.
The demo is taking place here in the AR Sandbox area at Google I/O using the newly announce LG G7. The built-in Google Assistant key gives you quick access to Lens in the Assistant, or in the coming weeks you’ll be able to access it from the camera. Lens will automatically detect text and show you the option to select it, from there you can copy it and paste it somewhere, or for things like menus or signs in foreign countries you can translate them.
But you should really check it out:
