OnePlus have been teasing us for months with various leaks, rumours, hints and direct facts but now the time for all that is done. The OnePlus 6 launch is upon us, just hours away so here’s everything we know about it.
First let’s discuss the launches — I say launches as they are launching it in three locations — their three biggest markets: Europe, China and India. These launches will not be at the same time but at entirely separate times. The London launch is up first at 5PM BST (2AM AEST tomorrow morning) followed hours later by the Beijing launch at 10AM local time (12PM Australian time) — the Beijing launch site is confusing as it says 10AM Beijing time on the website but the countdown clock does not match that timing — maybe they are starting the live video two hours early? After the Beijing launch Mumbai is next up with their launch occurring at 3PM IST (730PM AEST).
What are we expecting?
What aren’t we expecting? Most of us have seen the OPPO R15 and the OnePlus 6 is expected to look very similar. For those who haven’t seen the OPPO R15, here are some pictures of the OnePlus 6:
So yes, there will be a notch that will be able to be hidden with a software setting. It will run Qualcomm’s latest, the Snapdragon 845 and have a minimum 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage — I expect there o be an 8GB/128GB (or possibly 256GB). The display will be an 18:9 aspect ratio 6.28 inch AMOLED display and on the rear will be a dual 20MP/16MP camera setup.
Most importantly there will be an Avengers version. At first this was thought to be exclusive to India after rumoured to also be coming to the UK. The Chinese OnePlus webpage says otherwise with a large Avengers Infinity War poster along with the Avengers OnePlus 6 packaging — along with their “flash activity” saying: “Have the opportunity to be the first to have a “OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Alliance Limited Edition”. Whether this will be sold online as well or only at these special events is unknown but I am crossing my fingers for online and all locations.
For those who don’t want to get up at 2AM to watch the announcement (and I’m not sure any sane person would) fear not, I will be and will report back on all the details. Check out Ausdroid first thing in the morning before figuring out how to get yours.
Any news on the availability of the normal and Avengers Oneplus 6 in Aus?? And price??
Unfortunately no news is bad news. I find it highly unlikely we will be in the first roll out but I suspect we will be a chance for later expansion. OnePlus want to continue to grow…. Hopefully they see they can do that here… Don’t worry, we will let you know as soon as we know
