Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be announced at an event in New York, with Samsung sending invites to press for another Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event this morning.
Though Samsung doesn’t directly say they will unveil the Note 9 in their invite, nor the video teaser posted below but an S Pen is featured in both. Samsung also says the event is to ‘welcome a new member to the premium Galaxy family’, which when added together basically screams NOTE!
The event will be streamed live from New York from 11am EST – that’s 1am AEST on Friday, 10th August – through the www.samsung.com/galaxy website.
In terms of what we should expect, we’ve seen hints of why Samsung has featured the S Pen in their invite, with rumours circulating of a massive update to the Galaxy Note 9 S Pen, possibly involving Bluetooth.
The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to look the same as the Galaxy Note 8 from the front, but will see a re-design on the rear with the fingerprint sensor being brought down underneath the dual rear camera array.
Internally the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to come with either an Exynos 9810 (for most of the world) or Snapdragon 845 (likely only the US and China), with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and possibly up to 512GB of on-board storage – though that model is only expected to go to China.
While the Galaxy Note 8 was conservative with the battery in the wake of the well known issues with the Note 7, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to go large with a 4,000mAh battery. Samsung is also rumoured to be announcing a faster wireless charging pad as well.
We’ll know more about it on August 10th at 1am here in Australia and we’ll bring you everything you need to know on how to get your hands on one as soon as we can.
