The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be announced in almost a month exactly, and rumours circulating around an improved S Pen with Bluetooth support are becoming more common.
The teaser for the announcement of the Galaxy Note 9 last week saw the S Pen heavily featured, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the S Pen get a lot more features. To go with that line of thinking, this morning, well known leaker Ice Universe, has tweeted showing some potential uses for the Galaxy Note S Pen.
The Galaxy Note9 SPen can be used to control long-range self-timer, control music playback, because it is a Bluetooth device, it will do something unrelated to the pen. pic.twitter.com/WPS83xUskq

This tweet follows up the previous tweet which excited some Note fans, by saying ‘Galaxy Note9 S Pen is a pen with a soul. It may be the biggest update in the history of the S Pen.’
As well as using the S Pen for a long-range self-timer and controlling music playback, there opens up a raft of possibilities for Samsung and their stylus. The Bluetooth pairing of the stylus would of course open the door to possibilities such as incorporating it as a headset – although Asus tried that with the Padfone a while back.
Samsung already offers a highly sensitive tip for the S Pen already, supporting 4,096 levels of sensitivity, however with Bluetooth connectivity it could add in far more options such as indications of angle and more.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be unveiled at an event in New York City on August 2nd at 11am EST – that’s 1am AEST on August 3rd for you and I back here in Australia and we’ll find out exactly why the S Pen is being featured so heavily this time around then.
