Google has today announced expanded functionality for their Google Pay service adding in the option to save your concert tickets and boarding passes in the app. Google has also announced person to person payments for US customers, and finally acknowledged the ability to add your Woolworths Rewards card to the app.

Since they launched, Google Pay has seen comparisons with Apple Wallet, and now you’ll be able to do one more thing which will allow you to save your concert tickets and boarding passes in the new Passes tab in the Android app. Initially Google has announced Ticketmaster and Southwest Airlines as partners, with Eventbrite, Singapore Airlines, and Vueling coming soon, however Google Australia has also advised that locally here in Australia Ticketek and Virgin Australia will be on-board (hah) soon.

US (and soon UK) customers get one additional feature the ability to request or send money from within the Google Pay app. These functions have previously been available for US customers through the Google Pay and Send apps, but now it will be unified under the one app.

Google has also said they’re making it easier for you to manage and sync your Google Pay details through the pay.google.com portal. Google says that ‘Everything is synced with your Google Account, so if you update your payment info on the web, it’ll be reflected on your phone’, making it easier to set up on a new phone.

If you’re still waiting for Google Pay to become available through your bank you’re not alone. Hopefully the hold out financial institutions can come on board sooner rather than later.
