Lenovo announced three new Chromebooks including one with a 4K display

At IFA we’re seeing a lot of new devices announced, and it looks as though Lenovo has outdone themselves with three new devices the Chromebook C330, Chromebook S330 and the Yoga Chromebook running Chrome OS with the Yoga Chromebook sporting a 4K display.

Chromebook S330

The Chromebook S330 has a large 14-inch FullHD resolution 10-point touch display in a traditional ‘clamshell’ laptop form factor, with a Mediatek 8173C processor with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of eMMC storage. You get a USB 3.0 + a USB-C port and it runs Android apps with Google Play support. Lenovo makes mention of a bonus 10GB of online cloud storage.

Chromebook C330

The Chromebook C330 is the mid-range model of the three devices introduced, though with an 11’6″ HD resolution IPS 10-point touch display with anti-glare coating that’s being positioned as a model for ‘effortless enjoyment of multimedia content’. It comes with a 360-degree hinge that allows you to view media in tent, tablet, stand, or laptop modes for easy viewing.

The Chromebook is powered by a MediaTek 8173C quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and will have either 32GB or 64GB of storage – they’re not sure which model is coming here. The Chromebook uses USB-C and comes with 10 hours of battery life. It runs Chrome OS and as Google has said previously, that means it will include support for Google Play and Android apps

Yoga Chromebook (C630)

The big news for Chromebook nerds is the new Lenovo Yoga Chromebook which has the distinction of running an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U Kaby Lake R processor with an ‘up-to’ 4K resolution display.

Lenovo appears to have two models of this machine, with either a 15.6” UHD (3840 x 2160) or FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution IPS Touchscreen which has minimal ‘nearly-edgeless’ bezels powered by the Intel HD Graphics 620 GPU. The display is attached to a 360-degree hinge allowing it to be versatile enough to be used in multiple modes.

It’s built for performance with 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U Kaby Lake R processor, 8 GB DDR4 RAM and either 64GB or 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. You’ll get a USB 3.1 port and USB-C port as well and stereo speakers built-in.

The Yoga Chromebook comes with a 56WHr battery which will give you either 10 hours of life on the FullHD res screen, or 9 hours on UltraHD res.

Availability

Lenovo hasn’t announce dates for the Chromebook C330 or S300 as yet, but have said it’s due in ‘EMEA’ around November. Lenovo is looking around $399AUD for the S330, while the C330 will be $499AUD. November is also when we may be seeing the 4K Yoga Chromebook, but don’t expect it to be cheap with a price tag just under $2,000 expected.
