Nokia’s incoming 7.1 Plus with Android One shown off in 360 degree render

With Nokia formally announcing their launch event in London on October 4th the device leaks and rumours continue to drip out. Today we’ve been treated to a 360 degree render of what is suspected to the the Nokia 7.1 Plus Android One handset.

To be clear these are not official Nokia images rather there a collaboration between mysmartprice and @OnLeaks. The renders are based off CAD models used by accessory OEMs and supposedly depict the 7.1 Plus in all its glory. In the past we have seen these models used for other pre-release devices and have in the end been very accurate.

The renders show a USB-C port, a headphone jack which will please many, dual rear Zeiss cameras, a rear fingerprint sensor, full glass back (is it too much to hope for wireless charging to make the trip from the Nokia 8 line to the Nokia 7 line?) and what I’m sure will be a polarising notch on the display. Overall the device is a little smaller than the Nokia 7 Plus released earlier this year, which is a good thing, with the screen shrinking a little from 6.0″ to around 5.7″ to 5.8″.

Nokia has been making a name for themselves in providing great hardware at affordable prices and with either Android One or Android Go now standard on all 2018 devices you don’t need to sacrifice security or OS updates with any Nokia device. The 7 Plus line has been targeted as an affordable flagship competitor: the rumour is that the 7.1 Plus will ship with a Snapdragon 7xx series processor which will again pitch it right at that market segment once again.

With the price of flagship devices rising to what could be described as obscene levels by some, devices like the Nokia 7.1 Plus that promise near-premium performance at around half the price of some flagships are definitely an option that warrant some consideration.
