Google’s yet-unannounced next generation Chromecast isn’t just leaking – it’s already out in the world. The device was already sold to a customer in the USA, and now it looks like retailers on the other side of the pond are getting in on the action.
UK electronics retailer Very has listed the device, complete with a handy specs list and some very official-looking product photos.

The pictures seem to corroborate rumours that the magnet used to attach the Chromecast Ultra’s HDMI connector to the body of the device won’t be making an appearance in the new device. No big deal there – it’s not much use once the Chromecast is connected to your TV.
Very has the new Chromecast listed as “in stock” which suggests distributors might just be substituting the next generation of devices into the supply chain as a running change, although we haven’t seen any third generation Chromecast owners popping up online in the UK yet.
The devices is listed at £29.99, the same UK RRP as the current generation device. The biggest difference over the previous generation – now getting a little long in the tooth – is the addition of Bluetooth as noted in the FCC listing back in August, so it’s good to see that the price isn’t going to rise.
Speculation within the Ausdroid team on how the new Chromecast will use its newfound Bluetooth capabilities ranges from dual audio (listen to audio from Chromecast on your Bluetooth headphones) through a simplified setup process (so you’d no longer need to drop your phone’s wi-fi connection) to it just being a feature of the devices chipset.
We’re expecting to see the new Chromecast officially revealed at this week’s Made By Google event, so it won’t be long until we get our answers. Judging by the leaks, it’s probably going to end up at retail pretty quickly.
