Way back in August Fitbit announced the next generation of their best-selling fitness tracker series, the Charge trackers. The new Fitbit Charge 3 picks up where the Charge 2 left off taking it to the next level, as it needed to do with attacks coming from all sides from other manufacturers. Today the Fitbit Charge 3 is finally available here.
The Fitbit Charge 3 brings a bigger and brighter display to the fitness tracker, 40% bigger than its predecessor in fact. The touchscreen display is surrounded by an aluminium case which houses an inductive button and is covered by the strong Gorilla Glass 3.
Fitbit have also increased the battery size on the Fitbit Charge 3 resulting in a battery life of up to 7 days now, even with extra sensors. The extra sensors allow the user to have 24/7 heart rate tracking and oxygen saturation on demand. These are implemented in new health indicators added by Fitbit including sleep apnoea tracking.
Add in water resistance to 50m, female health tracking, personal insights into fitness and wellbeing and the ability to style it with a variety of accessory bands it makes for a very compelling product.
The Fitbit Charge 3 is available from today from leading Australian retailers and Fitbit.com.au for $229.95 in black with a graphite aluminium case or blue grey with rose gold aluminium case; accessories range $49.95-$69.95. As usual there is a Fitbit Charge 3 Special Edition which will be available for $269.95.
As always we will be checking it out and hope to bring a review to you soon. If you already like what you see head out and grab one from today.
As someone who pre-ordered the Charge 3, I am disappointed. Why? Simply because, I gave Fitbit my money last month, but don’t yet have the product, yet someone could walk into wherever today and buy it and have theirs before me. I am really looking forward to it (though hope the gripes in the Charge 3 group on Facebook about sync and tracking issues are less serious than they sound there), but am disappointed that paying first, doesn’t mean getting first.
that is disappointing. I’d be calling Fitbit. Have you done that? They should express it to you, or throw in an extra band maybe?
I wish 🙂 The reply I got when I raised this with them on Twitter was essentially “Thanks for your feedback” and initially blaming retailers being slow to ship, until I clarified that I bought it directly from them and they chose to send stock to retailers first rather than those who had pre-ordered directly
that’s poor form for sure.
I hope they add smart alarms and the ability to have the display always on soon. This would make the charge 3 my first choice the day my pebble time finally dies. 🙂
