The alleged Pixel 3 Lite – apparently codenamed ‘Sargo’ – which surfaced on the weekend was a bit of a shock, but though it showed a cut-down spec version of the Pixel 3/3 XL handsets in some respects, it appears camera quality isn’t one of those areas.
The Pixel 3 Lite is in the hands of Russian site Rozetked who brought us the original pictures of what they’re calling the Pixel 3 Lite. The Snapdragon 670 powered phone has a 12MP camera sensor according to the site – the same MegaPixel count as the camera on the higher-end Pixel 3 phones. Whether it’s the same sensor remains to be seen, but the sample shots from the rear camera that they’ve shared show the sensor is very capable anyway.
In terms of what features the Camera app will have, the site says that some of the camera functions have been hidden.
When we’ll see the Pixel 3 Lite announced isn’t clear, but the fact they have a fully fledged working model in their hands points to a product fairly well along in development.
The Pixel 3 Lite is likely to be aimed at developing markets, but if the camera performs just as well as the higher end phones there could be quite a market for importing the phone from these emerging markets. There’s a few more sample shots over at the source which you can check out here (via Google Translate).
