Support for Google’s Augmented Reality (AR) platform ARCore has been growing slowly over time, with Google gradually adding support for more devices and improving the technology. In their latest release, Google says they’re now supporting over 250 million devices, as well as offering improvements in key areas.

In their latest update, outlined on their Developers Blog, Google has outlined the new improvements which include an update to Sceneform, their 3D rendering engine that allows for more natural colour and lighting capture with previous versions of Sceneform rendering objects in ambient light as yellow, whereas the latest update skews more towards white.

Additionally, Sceneform now offers screen capture and recording, allowing developers to see the results of their work more easily. The addition of capture tools also allows users to easily share their share screenshots and videos on social media.

The update – ARCore version 1.6 – is rolling out to users with supported devices, which now includes phones from Acer, Asus, Samsung, Nokia, Huawei, OnePlus, Google, Razer, LG, Sony, Xiaomi and Motorola. If you’ve got a compatible phone you can update now.
