We have seen quite a few leaks of Samsung’s notch solutions in previous weeks and the first phone said to be sporting them was the Galaxy A8. Overnight in China Samsung introduced the world to the Galaxy A8s and the Infinity-O display.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s is not meant to be a flagship device but could be the real world testing bed for the Galaxy S10. The Galaxy A8s does indeed have the Infinity-O LCD display with a single hold punched into the top left corner of the display to house the 24MP selfie camera. This is expected to be the style of notched display that Samsung employ for the Galaxy S10 series with them testing out the responses to this phone with some IRL testing.

The display itself is a 6.4 inch FHD+ 1080 x 2340 pixel display. It is powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 and will sport 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The internal storage is a decent 128GB but there is a headphone jack missing for those who still prefer that.

The cameras are definitely a selling point for the phone with the triple rear cameras being 24 MP f1.7, 8MP and 5MP. The rear of the device also houses the fingerprint sensor — no in-display fingerprint sensor here, after all it is but a mid-range device. The front facing camera, as mentioned previously, is a 24MP shooter.

The phone arrives in blue, grey and green colours and at this stage there is no indication when it will arrive Downunder but we expect it to arrive not too far into the new year.

Would you consider this a mid-ranger worthy of your hard-earned? Do you like the Infinity-O display? Is this a decent short-term notch solution you can get behind?

I’m a bit partial to using a dedicated 3.5 mm headphone jack , so no it would be down the shopping list a tad ,
it does come with a half decent processor and the option for more ram , and it is a tad cheaper than some flagships so it would not be on the bottom of the list ..
