Fitbit are the world’s leading wearables brand and are often priced higher than their competitors for various reasons. Today though Fitbit have announced new wearables that are more affordable than before to “make health and fitness accessible to more consumers across the globe”.

The four new wearables are the Fitbit Versa Lite Edition, Fitbit Inspire HR, Fitbit Inspire and the Fitbit Ace 2.

With our newest products, we’re delivering high-quality, easy-to-use wearables that are more affordable, so getting healthy can be accessible to people of all ages and activity levels – even those who have never tried a wearable. We will continue to build on the Fitbit platform to provide a more personalised and valuable experience for our users through a paid premium service expected to launch later this year.James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit

Fitbit Versa Lite Edition

As the name suggests the Versa Lite Edition is based on Fitbit’s smartwatch, the Versa. The Lite version still tracks 24/7 heart rate, activity and sleep while offering personal guidance to achieve your goals. It includes smartphone notifications, apps, a battery life of over four days and a relative SpO2 sensor.

It is a simple design with a single button for navigation, lightweight and swim-proof and will be available in white, lilac, mulberry, marina blue and charcoal for $249.95 from March this year. As always there will be other bands that compliment it available and the current Versa accessories will also fit the Versa Lite.

Inspire and Inspire HR

The Inspire and Inspire HR are super affordable trackers with one obviously sporting 24/7 heart rate monitoring. Both will track activity and exercise, give you reminders to move, include sleep tracking and include timer and stopwatch functions. Both wearables are swim-proof and include a touch screen display and smartphone notifications and up to five days of battery life.

Inspire HR will be available in black, lilac and two-tone black and white and retail for $179.95. The Inspire is available in black and sangria for just $129.95. Other bands and bracelets are available as optional accessories ranging from $44.95 to $99.95. Both will be available in March this year.

Fitbit Ace 2

The Fitbit Ace 2 has a new swim-proof design with a bumper to protect the display and will be available in bright colours. It will include new animated clock faces and motivational challenges for kids to keep them moving. The Ace 2 can only be connected with the child’s Fitbit account via a family account.

Ace 2 will be available in Q2, 2019 in watermelon with teal clasp or night sky with neon yellow clasp. Once again there are other bands and accessories that can be purchased to further personalise the wearable. When it lands it will be priced at $129.95.

Along with the new devices Fitbit have also announced a redesign of their app to give the user more ways to personalise their experience. It will be designed to make it easier to view and understand the stats, log your own data, discover new content and to track your progress. Of course connecting with the Fitbit community will be a large part of this new redesign.

Fitbit are also launching a Rewards beta program where users can earn rewards points by reaching their fitness goals, recording steps, sleep and active minutes. The rewards points can be redeemed for discounts on Fitbit products and rewards from partners such as Adidas, Blue Apron and Deezer.

While smartwatches are floundering Fitbit and other wearable fitness tracking companies will continue to grow their market share. Fitbit are not only doing that but also trying to improving their own ecosystem by not just releasing new devices but also new services for customers.

If you are on the look out for a new fitness tracker but are tight for cash at the moment these Fitbits may well be worth a consideration.

Fitbit are incredibly inaccurate and their forums are full of users with massive amounts of issues. All they’ve done is renamed the known bad models, which all came out last year with a new name this year. The accuracy and reliability has not changed at all. BUYER BEWARE.
