Huawei’s series of midrange Nova phones is due for an update, with a product launch in China for March 14 at which it’s expected to reveal the Nova 4e – a midrange device with a few interesting specs for its price point.
Huawei teased the Nova 4e on its Weibo account revealing a 32MP selfie camera and little else, but two phones (MAR-AL00 and MAR-TL00) recently passed certification by China’s TENAA.
PlayfulDroid surmises the phones are the global and “3C” (Chinese) versions of the P30 Lite, which would make it the Nova 4e.
According to them, the TENAA listing reveals some specs about the screen and power configuration — we can expect a 6.15-inch display (quite a step up from the 5.84 inches of the Nova 3e) and leaks say it’ll include a minimal waterdrop notch to house that big 32MP selfie camera.
There’s a 3,250 mAh battery powering it all, and at least in the Chinese version of the phone it’ll support 18W fast charging.
From the device certification photos we can also see a rear fingerprint sensor and a triple camera – rumoured here to be a 20/16/2 configuration.
Finally, case manufacturer Spigen has handily gone ahead and announced P30 Lite cases on its website. Thanks guys.
Curiously, the device in Spigen’s render doesn’t quite match the device we see in the TENAA certification pics (there’s a difference around the flash placement) but it’s possible their image was based on an earlier reference design.
Still, we expect the Nova 4e will likely see its own Australian launch in the next few months, while it’s likely to head to European markets as the P30 Lite.
