Amazon revolutionised the market with the Kindle and ever since they have been the go-to e-reader for a majority of people. Not content with just the one Kindle they have released several different Kindles at varying price points over the years.
Today Amazon have announced the all-new Kindle at a very attractive price point. The All-new Kindle (yes that is its name) is priced at just $139 and is very similar to it’s big brother, the $199 Kindle Paperwhite.
The All-new Kindle includes a 6 inch, glare-free touch screen with a PPI of just 167. While the PPI is small, remember, you are only reading books and not viewing movies. The inbuilt storage is a basic 4GB which will still hold thousands of books.
Amazon have included a new built-in adjustable front light to allow you to read indoors and outdoors most of the day – the battery will last you up to four weeks so you will be able to read for a while.
Weighing just 174 grams with dimensions of just 160 x 113 x 8.7 mm, Wi-Fi support only it is a definite entry-level Kindle. There is also a lack of waterproof support so you cannot read it while swimming.
The Kindle is available for pre-order in Black and White for just $139 at Amazon online, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and “other select retailers”. Covers for the All-new Kindle are also available in charcoal black, sandstone white, cobalt blue, and punch red fabrics for $44.95.
The All-new Kindle will begin shipping on April 10.
