After a bit of a rough start, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold could be ready to come (back) to market this July. After an aborted launch in April due to screens that broke way too easily, Samsung has reportedly put a lot of effort into resolving the issues to get the phone ready to properly go on sale.
Sammobile reported that we wouldn’t see the Galaxy Fold in June, forcing Samsung (and retailers) to cancel pre-orders for the time being, but a new report from South Korea says Samsung’s CEO DJ Koh has commented on a release for next month.
We understand, via GizChina, that there may be a press conference of sorts later this month to announce the (re) launch. There’s speculation – well founded, if you ask me – that perhaps Samsung was in too much of a rush to beat Huawei and the Mate X, and with the escalating trade war between the US and China, Samsung is now well placed to get its product on sale first.
We’ve not had a lot of time with the Galaxy Fold, beyond seeing it on a stand at MWC earlier this year, so we’re looking forward to learning more about the device and whether it really does offer something that the consumer is looking for.
