Is this really the Google Pixel 4?

Last year the Google Pixel 3 leaked so much we knew everything about it long before it was announced. Same for the Pixel 3a but so far this year Google has managed to keep the Pixel 4 mostly under wraps. Thus whenever we see something remotely Pixel 4-related we get a little bit excited.

Overnight @Onleaks and Pricebaba have teamed up to reveal a couple of renders of the upcoming Pixel 4. The renders, based on early prototyping schematics, are very brief in detail but do show a square rear camera module (similar to that leaked for the new iPhone) likely to house a multiple rear camera setup. This would be the first time Google have used a multiple rear camera setup, instead focusing their efforts on computational photography and their dual pixel camera sensor.

There is also a fingerprint sensor missing on the renders which is no surprise. Although there is credible evidence that Google will be introducing a more secure facial identification system with the Pixel 4 there is not a single decent flagship device being released these days which actually has a fingerprint sensor NOT mounted under the display. It makes sense that Google also release theirs with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The front of the device shows a speaker grille that is a relatively fair way down from the top of the device suggesting that Google are retaining the use of a notch this year. It would be a mistake for them to bring a phone with a notch as big as the Pixel 3 in 2019.

The bottom of the device houses speaker grills (most likely just one speaker) suggesting that the lower front facing speaker has been ditched. Once again there is a lack of a headphone jack anywhere near the USB-C port.

Some have also suggested that the glossy finish on the renders lends itself to the Pixel 4 being glossy. We aren’t so sure of that one but after introducing wireless charging and their Pixel Stand last year it would be strange for the rear of the device to not be glass and support Qi charging once again.

As always these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. Even though @Onleaks has a decent history of being accurate with his leaks it is early and these renders do not reveal much they are based on early prototype schematics so they may represent a general view of the phone that is presented in October by Google.
