OnePlus have seemingly fixed the ghost touches with their latest update, rolling out now

OnePlus shot for the stars with the OnePlus 7 Pro. It was their first attempt at an ‘ultra premium’ smartphone and on paper it looked the goods. Unfortunately it has been plagued with bugs with the display and an inadequate camera since release.

The main issue with the display was the ghost touches where the display continually registered touches along the top of the display. Originally it was thought they had fixed these ghost touches with an update nearly two weeks ago but they persisted for many, including myself.

Today they have begun rolling out an update, OxygenOS 9.5.8, and while it does not mention the ghost touches themselves within the changelog it does mention that they have further ‘optimised touch sensitivity for the screen’. I have tested the update out the entire day (after updating using the Oxygen Updater app) and have yet to see a single ghost touch — something that I have been plagued with. Hopefully this continues.

This time there are no fixes for the camera quality but you can be sure they are working on that one — it is a good camera, just not phenomenal as you would expect from an ultra-premium smartphone. There have already been many camera improvements arrive and we expect to see more in the coming weeks.

A May security patch and a few other random bug fixes round out the update, one that many users have been waiting for.

Now that the ghost touches are fixed (touch wood that they are actually fixed and it doesn’t reoccur after a period of time) the OnePlus 7 Pro is nearly perfect. For the price it is way better than anything else in that price-range and for me I can and do highly recommend it to anyone wanting a new smartphone.
