Google’s revamped homescreen for Android Smart Displays launched in May for the Nest Hub and the Nest Hub Max. The redesign is now making its way to Lenovo Smart Displays.
Ambient Mode is remaining the same, with fullscreen clocks or photo galleries. Tapping the screen blurs the background and slides a Google News card in from the side. If media is playing or upcoming events are available, the card will show those instead. Future devices that include Face Match will display personalised notifications on the slide-in card.
The left side of the display shows the time and date, as well as current weather information. Unfortunately, the three-day weather forecast is now missing, and viewing it requires an additional interaction by tapping the current weather. Overall the new design is less information-dense.
The redesign is included in the R12 OTA update on 8-inch and 10-inch models rolling out this week.
