It’s an interesting week for Huawei; the exemption to the US Commerce ban which denies Huawei access to American products and services expires tomorrow (Australian time), and while the company has secured access to Android Q to keep its smartphones running and up to date for another 12 months, other outcomes are less certain.
Despite this, rumours about the upcoming Mate 30 series continue to break, and this one isn’t a bad one. With the power of Huawei’s new Kirin 990 chip – which is rumoured to arrive in a couple of weeks at IFA 2019 – the new Mate 30 series will be capable of shooting 4K 60 FPS video.
It’s not exactly new tech – in that older phones have had this technology for a little while now – but it will give the Mate 30 a better camera than the Mate 20 series, and it will improve the overall video performance which often lags behind still photography in premium smartphones.
With the Huawei Mate 30 series rumoured to launch in about a month’s time, and with the likely announcement of the Kirin 990 chipset in a couple of weeks at IFA, we should know an awful lot about the Mate 30 within the next little while.
